The last month has turned our lives upside down. And there are so many things to report-

First the kids

Katrina turned 11! This was a very big, long anticipated birthday. She has been counting down since about... hmmm... "1 more year until I'm 11!" The count down got more obsessive as we got to 4 months, then to 6 weeks, then at 4 weeks it turned into days. So she had a friend party. This is not an every year occurrence for us, and I never thought 11 would be a "special" year, but due to unforeseen circumstances we chose to make an exception. (More on that latter)

Tyler is Tyler, struggling to be the "perfect" kid. He is a HUGE help, and takes on too much responsibility. A couple weeks ago while Brady was out of town, I was SICK. One of those sicks you are sure you have NEVER experienced before. I had a fever, was disoriented, dizzy, and even picked fights on the phone with my dear hubby, that apparently I was asleep through, because I don't remember them. Anyway, this lasted for 4 days, I laid on the couch and poor Tyler ran the house. He brought me drinks and medicine. Cooked for and fed the other children, supervised chores, and kept the laundry going. Every day he would come home from school and would find me sleeping on the couch, put his hand on my forehead, and ask, "Are you doing any better Mom?"

Carter- Well Carter is following in his sister and mothers footsteps. My poor baby broke his ankle last week- least we think thats whats wrong. After a week on crutches, and Brady trying to convince me it was nothing, I finally broke down and took Carter to the Dr. yesterday. He was sure it was broken due to the continued swelling, discoloration, and pain. But the x-ray was clear and the radiologist agreed. But they both said they still think there is a fracture they can't see, so Carter is in a walking boot for a week. At the end of the week, if he is still bruised, swollen and having pain we are supposed to go see an orthopedist.

So this week, along with other major tasks, I need to apply for CHIP so we can afford to possibly have to see the specialist.

The other major task- well that'll have to wait for another blog, as I have hours of work to do and only a short time to complete it.

  1. I'm listening Cousin:) Sorry to hear you were sick and alone on the couch...I can totally relate. I've missed four days of work so far-two days with sick Jaden...and two week days with me sick with strep throat:( I can so understand. My boss brought us pizza-and was the only person brave enough to enter our domain.
