A few days ago a man from the moving company came by and walked our house to give us an estimate on what it will cost to move everything to California. I got to admit I felt a little pride when upon examination of our kitchen cabinets and misc closets he said we have relatively little compared to what he is used to seeing in closets and cupboards. I have worked hard the last few moves to de-junk our life of life's unnecessary baggage. Imagine my surprise when 3 days later the estimate came in at just over 17000 lbs. Can he be serious? 17000 lbs? Guess I'm not done dejunking. It will be interesting to see how much it actually weighs once it is on the truck.

Do you ever have those days? When you have so much to do and yet you find yourself laying on your bed, your laptop open, perusing all your favorite blogs to see what all your cyber friends are up to? Well, that has been my morning. We leave in 4 days for Cali, we will be there for 10 days and my todo list is 5 miles long. Not just stuff for the trip, but once I get back, I will have just about 10 days til moving day. And that 10 days will be VERY full as the kids will be out of school, I will still be working and as of my convo yesterday with the Bishopric, I will be in my calling until I am gone. Oh and did I mention, Hubby will be staying in Cali to work. So I will be handling all theses details on my own. And yet, here I lie. Filling my 1000 Moments blog with pictures that make me smile from my Blackberry, my hair up in a towel, and my list growing longer, while time grows shorter... oh, the life a procrastinator.
It's moments like these I wish I was more like my sister Amy and my mom. 4 days ahead they have long detailed lists with many items crossed off, others in progress and a plan of when and how to accomplish it all. I have lists, I have lots of lists, 3 on my whiteboard, several in my notebook, and a couple in different programs on this very laptop, plus I think one or two on my desktop computer down stairs, but nothing is crossed off, and nothing is really in progress.
So I guess now is as good a time as any. I will shut my laptop and will myself to work. I must wash and replace bedding today, (is this too soon Amy? Should i wait another day or 2?) I must get the animals to the groomer, get copies of their vaccinations, get to the grocery store for a few items we need before we leave, take bags to DI, clean up the living room so I have somewhere to start organizing stuff that will go with us, and hopefully get to the scouting office as apparently they can't find ty's records. And that is all hopefully before the kids get home at 1:30. Oh, and maybe i should at least brush my wet hair before then.
It's all ready 10 am, i guess I will go now... wish me luck.

So here is our current plan....
We will be leaving on May 28th to spend 10 days house hunting in Sacramento, CA. The kids are very excited, and as it gets closer so am I. Brady starts work on June 1st so we will spend Memorial Day together, viewing houses, and swimming at the hotel. I have found several houses that look like they will work for us and I am excited to see them in person.
My wish list included 4 bedrooms, large family friendly kitchen, and a pool/spa.
On June 7th the kids and I will come back to Utah. On Friday I will go to Cedar City to spend the weekend with my gymnasts for Summer Games. The next week the movers will come, Friday Brady will come home, that weekend is State Gymnastics Meet, then Sunday we will leave for Sacramento.
Then depending on how our house hunt goes next week, we will either do more house hunting, or prepare to move into our new home. Barco will pay for us to stay at a residence inn until we are able to find our new place.
I am excited, yet overwhelmed by how much I need to get done in such a relatively short period of time. Brady has been a big help and I am so grateful for all he's done to make this move as easy as possible.
I am a lucky woman, I am loved, and I am blessed.

I am going to start my 1000 list... as inspired by Amy and BFF Kim. I am gong to make my list in a separate blog. If your interested it can be found at My 1000 Great Mom/Wife Moments. I am excited to start recording these moments, sharing my great mom moments with all of you. But even more excited to share them with my children.
We got the offer, we accepted said offer and now we plan our move to Sacramento... There are a couple small hurdles to compete as to paperwork and contracts, but as long as everything goes as expected, we will be headed to Cali next month.
I am so excited, the kids are so excited, my hubby is SO excited. He is currently in Olympia, Wa installing digital cinemas, so we have been unable to truly celebrate. Saying congrats on the phone just doesn't seem to do this justice. I want to put my arms around him and tell him how excited I am for him, for us. How proud I am and how very thankful for all his sacrifices.
So we are moving AGAIN, but this time it will ALL be done for me, CRAZY!!! They gave me a number to call and then a big truck with lots of big guys and big boxes will show up, and then all my stuff will disappear from our home. Then when we get to our new place that same big truck, different big guys, but same big boxes with all our stuff packed neatly inside will show up and be distributed throughout my house. What a novel idea, why did I never do this before? oh, yeah, your probably right, the $7,000 price tag probably has something to do with it.
What an incredible waste of money, but they want to pay it, seriously, want to. They won't pay me to do it, so I guess will just let them pay the big guys with the big truck and big boxes.

My Mothers Day was not your typical Mothers Day. As last week was Stake Conference, Fast Sunday fell on Mothers Day, which meant, to my childrens dismay, there would be no breakfast in bed. Which was ok with Brady, considering I had to be up at 8 to make it to a 8:30 Ward Counsel Meeting. (Have you heard? I am the new Primary President) So I ran out the door at 8:29, and was confused when I found the Bishops office locked and the halls empty. A quick call to one of the counselors and I was told they had cancelled all the meetings so the Moms could sleep in... hmmm, I missed that one. So home I went and I crawled back into my cozy warm bed next to my snoring hubby. I dozed for half an hour or so with children coming in to wish me a happy mothers day,and climb in next to me for some early morning "cuddle time." Then it was time to put the finishing touches on my plan for Sharing Time.
The lesson just wouldnt come together, so I started over. At 11:00 I jumped in the shower and spent the next 2 hours running back and forth between doing my hair and makeup upstairs to creating and printing my lesson in the basement. All the while my children complained about how hungry they were and that they were going to DIE!!! I finally gave up and yelled at them they could eat everything in the house for all I cared! (a dozen cookies, 2 litters of soda, and 1/2 a bag of reeses later, no one was complaining anymore.) We had a wonderful testimony meeting and my heart was touched when a young girl got up and shared her story of giving her baby up for adoption. (Ill share that story later) After Sacrament off to Primary, where Carter gave a talk, and I taught sharing time 2x. After church we ran out to the van where Brady was waiting for us. He had gone home early to get ready for his business trip. He had a plane to catch at 6, and it was now 4:10.
We raced to the airport, got him there exactly 1 hour early and the kids and I headed home. When we got home, the kids decided (with a little prompting from dad before he left) that they wanted me to go watch HGTV while they cleaned the house and made dinner. We had a very relaxing evening and as I get ready to start my day, I must say I am fairly impressed with how clean the house is. They tried really hard.
Though the day was crazy, it was great. I am so lucky to have such an incredible family. My kids are loving and try really hard to be good kids, and my hubby adores me. What a wonderful life I have.
