A few days ago a man from the moving company came by and walked our house to give us an estimate on what it will cost to move everything to California. I got to admit I felt a little pride when upon examination of our kitchen cabinets and misc closets he said we have relatively little compared to what he is used to seeing in closets and cupboards. I have worked hard the last few moves to de-junk our life of life's unnecessary baggage. Imagine my surprise when 3 days later the estimate came in at just over 17000 lbs. Can he be serious? 17000 lbs? Guess I'm not done dejunking. It will be interesting to see how much it actually weighs once it is on the truck.

Whoa! Wonder what the norm is then? I'm loading my car again with more stuff for D.I -to "decrease the weight" in my U-Haul truck:)
ReplyDeleteWhen they are loading the boxes remember boxes and packing material have weight as well. I used to be an estimator. We would estimate the amount of boxes needed and then add the weight of the packing materials.
