Amidst all the craziness of our new home, the flood of our old one (while still responsible for it), and Brady's crazy travel schedule we decided to take a couple days off. We were invited up to the Uinta Mountains to "camp" with some friends from an old ward. There were 7 families sharing 7 cabins plus a large house. There was a pond with kayaks and paddle boats, a river for swimming and rafting, and restrooms with toilets and hot showers. So yes, I will agree with most, not really camping, but it was in the woods, there were bugs and we cooked out side. Given there was a refrigerator, freezer and sink, and we brought a propane grill, but I can call it camping if I want.
It was so great to get away, my favorite part was the complete lack of cell service. We simply left the phones in the car. It gave us a chance to really reconnect. I don't know the last time we spent time with no computer or phone and didn't have a single conversation about either one of our businesses. Just sitting in the silence of nature surrounded by our children and friends was so refreshing and rejuvinating.
The kids had a great time just running around from sun up til sun down. It reminded me of the campoing trips we used to take when I was a kid with all the cousins. It makes me a little sad that thins kind of trip has to be made with friends and not family since we live so far away. But at least they are having the experiences. K became very brave and took the 2 little girls down the river many times on a tube. T ran around with all of his friends. There were 5 boys his age. He loved the freedom, and C spent alot of time swimming in the river. Throwing rocks in the river was his favotir part.
We are really excited to have Megan, Ben and Thomas join us here in Utah. My kids cant wait to see Aunt Megan again. THings are still going well with having Eliz and Allen here with us. She is still having non-productive preterm labor. Todays a particularly bad day for her, with 60 sec contractions every 8-10 minutes. but with 8 weeks or so to go, she's just taking it easy. Allen asked her if she should be walking, because thats what they say to do in the books when you are having contractions. She said, only if we want to have this baby spend the next 2 months in the nicu.
Well, we'll post more later.
